Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] goldenmean for taking me to see Beowulf: A Thousand Years of Baggage last night. There's really nothing like a live rock orchestra to envigorate a seminar on ancient Anglo-Saxon epic, particularly when the scholars start turning into the monsters (as they often did in my fever-addled undergrad years, soaking in the wine-dark sea):

Also, fire is pretty, and I am ever a moth. The Crucible's 10th Anniversary Fire Ballet Fundraiser is Dracul: Prince of Fire:

And MC Frontalot's Goth Girls, as it's been the earworm of the day:

Tonight, karaoke in one of the private rooms at the Do-Re-Mi in Japantown, and a cameo at Clockwork's SF debut.

Go See Dracul !

Dracul is AWESOME! GO SEE IT!!!

I am working at the Crucible Wednesday and Friday nights. I have seen the show all the way through plus bits and pieces on nights I'm working. Come by and say Hi if you're there :)

Know that the clips on youtube are not of this exact show, but of previous ones. This show involves lots of very impressive aerial stunts and (of course) FIRE. Without spoiling too much, in one scene they actually pour molten bronze off the balcony into the stage below. A fire-breathing dragon, a slayer, vampires, zombies, and more. The entire front of the stage and all of the back drop of the set are HOT and burn in some way. Add a stage full of fire performance and that's a LOT of flames :)

A friend of mine is also doing glass blowing demos before the Friday and Saturday shows. Her glass sculpture "Zombie Battlefield" is on display near the entrance.
