What is the book about the natural history of Corfu? I lived there as a little kid (really little: 5/6), and I just this past weekend started a mini Corfu-nostalgia kick with Prospero's Cell, which is Lawrence Durrell's journal about living there.

Uncanny! I'm reading My Family and Other Animals, by his brother Gerald Durrell!

I have read that book many times! It's almost like a mythologized, happier version of my own family's time there -- we were also four variously peculiar children under the care of a well-meaning but confused single mom who impulsively moved house a lot. And since I was 6, the happy version is mostly what I remember myself.

One confusing thing -- Theodore Stephanides appears as a character in both books. I don't know if he is real in one and fictionalized in the other, or if Larry returned to the island with his wife soon enough after they were there as children to become Theo's friend as an adult.
