I knew I liked owls for a reason. Hoo. I once read Goddesses in Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen (a somewhat dippy read; I don't recommend it), and the personality typing classified me as an Athena, as in the former meme. But the interesting part was that this archetype also had Medusa associated with it (in a very tenuous bit of classical scholarship) as a sort of Mr. Hyde to the Dr. Jekyl Athena. The Medusa in Dr. Bolen's Athena archetype was emotionally distant as in the latter meme; in a rather remarkable spin, she herself turns to stone, instead of those whom she surveys. Normally, I wouldn't think that Athene bore much resemblance to Gaia, but memes work in mysterious ways.
