For various reasons, I've been giving some thought recently to how we appear in real life and in our blogs. I identify with several ideologies and affiliations not readily apparent upon meeting me or reading my blog. Due to some recent conversations regarding being visible as a member of such groups or choosing to blend in and affect change from within, I thought it might be interesting to see how people in my life perceive my views. [Brief poll malfunction; if you filled it out earlier, please do so again. Apologies!]

[Poll #1191839]

[Poll #1191840]

In addition, [livejournal.com profile] dangerpudding recently posted a charming poll asking readers to identify her current sweeties. I thought I'd do something similar, just for amusement.

Jewish, but I don't know how serious you are about it so I can't make a call on the Atheist part, so I left that blank (same for anything I was unsure on). Jews and Catholics (especially Jesuit schooled Catholics) seem to make the "best" atheists though. :)

I know a fair amount now, but much of it was a surprise as I found the bits out. I can answer with "my current mental picture of the [livejournal.com profile] chalepa_ta_kala, or with my "here's what I thought I knew on each point before you actually told me". Any preference?

From: [identity profile] chalepa-ta-kala.livejournal.com

Would you be a dear and fill out the poll with what you you think you know now, and then tell me what you previously believed in a comment?

Re: As you wish!

P.S. I admit I'm not entirely clear on the distinction between polyamory and polyfidelity. Enlighten me over beer!

skipped the poll

all I need to basically know about you I do

you're good people and you give good hug

simple, no?

From: [identity profile] shaix.livejournal.com

Crud. I didn't see the option for Jewish Atheist until after I submitted the poll. Oh well. :)

From: [identity profile] pure-agnostic.livejournal.com

I marked atheist even after seeing all the options because I don't make a religious distinction between an atheist and a Jewish atheist. When considering ethnicity, I do see a distinction. But the question asked about religion, not ethnicity, or a combination of ethnicity and religion. So interpreting the question that way, you might have chosen the right answer anyway.

From: [identity profile] chalepa-ta-kala.livejournal.com

You're right that ethnicity has nothing to do with this question.

Perhaps a Jewish Atheist is someone who goes through the religious rituals without any belief behind them. I certainly know people who are culturally Jewish but do not believe in G-d.

if Jewish had been a choice on the ethnicity list I probably would have picked it.

You can fill out a poll again, just go back to the poll link and click "fill out poll."

I'm bummed out that no one's guessing Spencer anymore.

OTOH, I'm delighted that Alex and I both made the list. (Ummm, that is us, right? There are a lot of Jens and Alexes on the planet.)

From: [identity profile] shoutingboy.livejournal.com

Tell me about it! I had to devise a whole filing system for my Jen/Jen slashfic.

From: [identity profile] juverna.livejournal.com

I know some people who would probably like you to share your files with them.

From: [identity profile] tsgeisel.livejournal.com

After reading that, I felt obliged to guess Spencer, although I don't know who Spencer is.

From: [identity profile] tsgeisel.livejournal.com

Ok. I did know that. It just never registered.

Call it the fine line between "information" and "knowledge". It sounds so much more polite than "I was temporarily brain dead."

From: [identity profile] jedusor.livejournal.com

Okay, that's it. I've been trying to figure this out for about eight months over Twitter and LJ and hints from in-person meetings, and I give up: who is the Grub?

From: [identity profile] bdot.livejournal.com

i have been wondering the same thing!!!!

i don't know for sure, but i think it is a child...possibly her child, biological or otherwise.....

From: [identity profile] jedusor.livejournal.com

Yeah, her tweets make me think it's either a kid or a sweetie, and the fact that I've been trying to figure it out for this long and haven't been able to tell which is... disturbing. :P

From: [identity profile] bdot.livejournal.com

lol...disturbing indeed! but i am pretty sure it is a child.

I picked "generic caucasian" because you didn't have a race choice for Jewish. You're obviously not a WASP, which is how I actually would categorize "generic caucasian," despite the geographical inaccuracy of that, but I had previously assumed that it was being Jewish that gave you your complexion.

From: [identity profile] whobunkyboo.livejournal.com

See if it had been who am I currently involved with and then listed LJ names, I would have done much better.

And I know that you are involved with Spenser in the way that I am involved with Willie.

From: [identity profile] neoliminal.livejournal.com

Sooooo... I have very little knowledge of you. Just some hobbies and interests that looked cool and some pictures of you being a VicGear head. Consider me as much of a stranger as you're going to find.

From: [identity profile] colloquialme.livejournal.com

Me, too--stranger here; just know about you from a common friend and think your blog and your steampunk creations are cool. Took mostly wildish guesses in the relationship quiz (except for two). And figured out about Spencer, but confess along with the others about extreme curiosity re: The Grub.

From: [identity profile] colloquialme.livejournal.com

I think she's a goddess! Was just mainly taking wild, random guesses for fun. Sorry for not being more serious about that one...

From: [identity profile] shoutingboy.livejournal.com

We need to get you two kids together! [livejournal.com profile] chalepa_ta_kala, [livejournal.com profile] colloquialme has a cat and two parrots, one of whom is, by general acclimation, the best gray bird in the whole world. [livejournal.com profile] colloquialme, [livejournal.com profile] chalepa_ta_kala has kitties, bunnies, bird and turtle. You would all adore each other's pets, I'm pretty sure, and you'd love each other, too.

Not sure if this can happen before Miss [livejournal.com profile] chalepa_ta_kala gets all surgeried, but if not, then as soon as she's feeling mobile and sociable, I hope!

From: [identity profile] conrad-zaar.livejournal.com

I must confess to merely guessing at many of my answers.

From: [identity profile] griqkincaid.livejournal.com

Well I took a stab at the have not met you in person one since it's been so very long and I've only had the pleasure of your company a couple times. I think I got at least a third of those wrong due to a shot in the dark since there are extended periods where I find myself away from LJ and missing several entries... :(

From: [identity profile] edge-of-within.livejournal.com

What is poly-fidelity?

Also - do we get the actual answers at some point?

From: [identity profile] chalepa-ta-kala.livejournal.com

I'll give it a few days and then post a summary of the responses and my answers.
